View from Astoria Column in Oregon, confluence of 2 rivers. Most people see the longer view west, as the Columbia River flows to the Pacific Ocean. As an artist I prefer looking slightly south, where a the farms and a smaller river melt into the coastal hills, and the mist rises among the hills. I painted a small plein air onsite, and later this larger version n the studio, The light on the water contrasting with the mist was what captivated me.
