Portland Steamship, Plein Air Watercolor & Gouache
Portland Steamship
A friend paints plein air around the city all summer. I work full time but on the rare weekend paint-out I will join. This historic paddle-wheel steamer is kept alive by many dedicated volunteers, and is usually parked at Waterfont Park. While I was intimidated by the idea of a boat shape, I dove in and whipped it out in what may be record time for me . Bypassers were wowed as I stepped away and I was very pleased with the result. I left it unfinished as the support barge to the left was going to be too distracting from the ship. So with that it IS finished!
