On the Way Home

On the way home from my daughter and son-in-laws I drive east for a coupla miles. Then I turned south on tothe black top and looked to my right to the west...this is the sky I saw. The forground and back ground were only midly interesting and mostly dark values. The sky was amazing, I had to stop and look at it! Make some quick notes see if my camera in my phone could even see it and then drove home to draw it while I still had a very fresh memory of it. The next few days there was no painting time. Then finally a painting day! Because I thought about it so much and had planned the colors in my head the painting came together and really portraied what I saw.
