On the Way Home

On the way home from my daughter and son-in-laws I drive east for a coupla miles. Then I turn south on to the black top and looked to my right to the west....this is the sky I saw. The foreground and background were only midly interesting and mostly dark values. The sky was amazing. I had to stop and look at it! I made some quick notes , see if my camera in my phone could even see it and then drove home to draw it while I still had a very fresh memory of it. The next few days had no painting time in them. Then finally a painting day. Because I thought about it so much and had planned the colors in my head the painting came together and really portrayed what I saw.
