Thunderhead road - Fruita Desert-Grand Valley CO

The last day of a glorious week of intense painting and exploring outdoors in and around Colorado National Monument. It was emotional for me as we drove away, heading north toward other adventures. I had had a week of new experiences, new places and new friends and it was coming to an end. We drove into this cloud system, in all of its magnificence. It was full of rain, and atmosphere. I created this piece when I got home to my studio using sketches and photos and so many memories of that place.
