Garrapata State Park lies between Carmel and Big Sur and sports some of the top wave watching locales of the Northwest Pacific coast. A recent storm had just passed and the waves rolled in big, one after another. Standing along the path, the motion and their sound was so soothing as to be almost meditative. The water color was a brilliant turquoise which perfectly paired with the rusty winter-frosted ice plants lining the cliffs.
