Something’s Gotta Give

All over Portugal the old traditional buildings are being replaced by new, shiny, white blocks - the inexorable march of progress. In this scene, I juxtaposed an old wall, painted abstractly to represent all the layers accumulated and sloughed off over much time, against a newly constructed facade. The wall is attempting to hold off the inevitable, but it is being dominated by a larger, apparently irresistible force.
