Fixated with this iconic monument from a young age I think because it inspires me. This statue gives me permission to dream big. I sketched it quickly with pen and ink from life, then the following day did a study in oil pastels again from life. Both items then I took home to the UK and in my studio created this oil painting using only my memory and images from en plein air. It is a special painting to me.
