27th and Lex Street Scene

Oil on canvas. For this painting I found a nice little niche between the stoop of an apartment building and a restaurant entrance, out of sidewalk traffic. This was always one of my favorite sections of Lexington Avenue, known as Little India, it is a very vibrant and active neighborhood. Taking a few days to catch the same light, I spent some time here and experienced the rhythms and vibes of the corner in ways that you can't by just passing through.
