The Path

Oil on canvas. I'm inspired by the beauty and the history of the Choptank River near my home on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. As well as being important to watermen, sportsmen and migrating geese, to me it's most moving role was that of a pathway to freedom for slaves escaping bondage on the Eastern Shore. This is where Harriet Tubman was born and where she did most of her important work.
