Just A Line Or Two
The title comes from the text of the letter in the painting. It is from my father to my mother during WW II dated Feb 12th 1945. My parents had been dating for a year when he was drafted in 1942. There is an archive of 200+ letters from my father to my mother during his 3 years in the army 1942 to 1945. Her letters to him were destroyed, because he could not keep them. They span his years through basic training, gunnery school and on to his deployment in the Air Force on a B-24 Liberator in the South Pacific, as a Radio Operator and Waist Gunner. This letter is from the time when he was in the South Pacific and could not write often or tell her where he was. In it he writes “Just a line or two to let you know that I am ok.”
