Millie

This watercolor painting is of our Mille Fluer d'Occle hen, Millie. She came in the mail with 5 other baby chicks, chosen specifically for their unique plumage so that I could paint them. She was so tiny that she was suffering from the cold during her 1 day trip from the farm to our post office. We took her home, warmed her up and gave her some molasses water. She perked right up and to our delight began loudly chirping... she has now grown into a fine young hen. I brought her into the kitchen for the photo shoot and she struck a pose that captures her spunky personality!
